Build Energy with a Better Mood

By Staff of Forum Health Rochester Hills

Everyone has those days when nothing seems to go right. Everything is frustrating, nothing is as it should be and the world seems like a big disparaging place. It’s amazing how the state of our mind can have such a grand impact on the world around us. When you are upset, your perception of everything else changes to fit your mood, creating a cycle of depression, frustration, and fatigue.

There is an old adage that says “fake it till you make it.” The idea is that by faking it, so exuding as much confidence and positivity as possible, you will give off the impression that you know what you are doing and as a result, will make it easier to attain your goals.

Getting Positive for Weight Loss

Just focusing on improving your mood can help you power through when times are hard. So if you aren’t already feeling positive, just making the decision to act that way may be the stepping stone that propels you towards success.

Sometimes, making a few adjustments to your lifestyle can give you the boost in mood that you need to start making healthy changes in other areas of your life. Here are a few tips as to how you can shake the day-to-day blues:

  • Go Outside. If fatigue is the problem, getting out of the house or office might help. Try heading outside for a walk in the sun to get a little bit of vitamin D.
  • Get up and move around. The idea of getting your juices flowing is nothing new, but there are studies from 2013 out of San Francisco State University proving that the concept works. Even just a minute or two of movement at least once an hour can make an impact in your energy level and mood.
  • Sit up straight. Poor posture is known to have a negative impact on your mood.
  • Have a glass of water. Dehydration can make you feel fatigued, which will often prompt negativity.

When it comes to looking for ways to make healthy changes in your life, starting simple is smart. Healthy habits like these can be easily incorporated into any stressful work day. If you are still finding yourself struggling with negativity, think about who you are spending your time with. Remember, a bad mood can be pretty contagious, so spending time with other negative people isn’t a great way to encourage positivity within your own life.
